Piercing and tattoo become a way to recover one's own uniqueness within the mass, a way to re-take possession of one's own body and its sensations , a form of rebellion, a protest against industrialized and technologic society.
Capitalism, has deprived the individual of its own personality and kept it away from Nature.
Primitive cultures, maintained that the holes in the body let the Light come through them, and the piercing rite was considered  a pact between Mankind and Nature.
