BODY PAINTING STORY

The reason why i was brought to get involved into Body Painting and all its varieties since the early '90s, is to be found in my interest for the use of your own body as a language.
The strain to abandon the bidimensional view of traditional paintings or of mural art, it's just for the will to involve and to turn into protagonist the space surrounding and praising the body itself, reaching that very tridimensionality i'm striving for,  to live with and within it.
This desire has lead me to find into the body, the real object on my art… “ i want to be part of the work, i want to feel the vibrating life beneath the structure and accept it as a living work of art”.

In facts on April 1993 I created a living artwork: the “tableau vivant” where the models  playied with the space and intertwined in it, creating different positions and situations, but all of them had in common a pictorial sign.
In such a context i have turned the pictorial sign into a sign of matter, by using some black ropes who were binding the models and made them actual puppets in my hands.
Human compositions can be both sensual or dramatic,
but all of them praise the beauty of human body anyhow.

On May 1995 I was exposing within the fair
“Erotica” in Bologna, a pictures-showing portraying painted bodies, whose title was  “la lingerie du bordel”, in facts the models were wearing just paint as if it was a real dress,  and they weren't feeling at all embarassed before a camera immortalizing those living art-works.

Body Art has brought me to know the beauty of the body, the vibration a body may give, and in first place, the emotion of the possibility to change, confound, modify, mix the body within the space or simply immortalize it  on a film and let it live forever as something else.
